During ... 1998 Courtland Volunteer Rescue Squad had a fire to the squad building. This resulted in the construction of the new building. The new building was now able to house three pieces of apparatus.
In March of 2005, Courtland Rescue started a 24/7 paid staff. During the hours of 6 AM and 6 PM Monday through Friday, this paid crew only covers Courtland Volunteer Rescue's first due area. After these hours, this same crew will pick up and assist other county squads.
Currently, CVRS has two medics, one Zone vehicle, and one support vehicle. Zone 4 was the result of a grants from the state EMS and Southampton County.
